I have an old pc that I decided to put Ubuntu on because it runs faster than xp. But the way of installing applications and drivers is extremely hard. I have a radeon 9800 xxl that has an output of one vga and one dvi. Those work fine but you can see (on what angle you look at it) the top right hand corner where there is an extarnal output and you can connect a plug thst extends into a scart a composite and an svideo but I cannot seen to get theese working. I also do not know how to install drivers for it but I csn get minecrsft running on it so it must have some sort of drivers

Can someone please explain this and give me instructions on how to install drivers
Thanks

Solution
Ubuntu(and Linux in general) have two kinds of drivers.

The proprietary binary driver (fglrx) provided by AMD is no longer supported for cards <hd5000.

The default driver in Ubuntu is called "radeon". It is free open source.

Not sure how to get the svideo thing working though
