Hi i have a core i7 4770k processor and i reach 4.5ghz at only 1.2v.
I reached at 4.7ghz 1.37v
An reach 85c max (when stress testing because even if i render videos it doesn't get higher than 78c
And i did all this in my stock H100i
I'm gonna add 4 NF-F12 3000rpm fans to replace the atock ones and oc it to maybe 4.9 or 5ghz :)
And also, what is the max temperature that my cpu would still be safe (except for intel's 72c)

Solution
I would not go over 1.3v and I think the recommended max is 1.35. My 3570k does 4.8 at 1.3v. I had to disable cstates because with it on I could only do 4.4ghz at 1.3v. with it off I can really push this system. As you can see, you need a lot more voltage going from 4.5 to 4.7. the key is to find the balance and its probably around 4.6ghz

1.30 V is already a bit too much for Haswell for long-term use. Also, for 5 GHz, you would need 1.45 or even 1.5 which will kill the CPU rather quickly. Even 4 NF-12 fans (which at 3000 rpm will sound like a wasp nest) wont be able to manage. You are lucky you got 4.5 at 1.2v. If I was you, I would keep it and call it a day.

I'd have no problem always running 1.3v and I have with no problems for a year or so now. the key is to just overclock the turbo frequency so the chip throttles down when not in use so your not running balls to walls 4.8ghz at 1.3v when you left the pc on and your at work. Its a waste of power and will dramatically help your components last a long time.

Sooooo0o0oo0o0o0... your agreeing with me? Also I never said a year was long term, Just sharing experience trying to aid the op. 1.3v is plenty save for long term too, I just wouldn't always want it at 1.3v not able to throttle down.

Depends on the motherboard. Usually its somewhere under advanced cpu options.
