I recently acquired a Gateway 507gr with an Asus P5GC-MX/1333 and my uncle said that it had a bad psu. So i went out to Microcenter and picked up a 500w psu, vga cable, and a wifi card. I go home and swap out the psu's, hook up the vga cable to the monitor that i was also given, a samsung syncmaster 512n, and plugged in a ps2 keyboard then proceeded to turn the baby on. As the pc was turning on the keyboard lights flashed twice and the bios splash screen appeared. I tried hitting delete and tab to enter the bios, but no response. I've been trying to fix this for the last week by googling and searching non stop. I've reset the cmos battery many times but when i do the pc freezes on a page about American Megatrends, which turns out to be the provider of the bios. Usb keyboards don't work either. I don't have a speaker on the motherboard so i can't hear any beeping if there were any. Please some one help me.

It could be a number of things, but I would start by looking at the RAM. If there's more than one stick installed, pull all but one and attempt to boot. Try it in each DIMM slot. If no joy, do they same thing with the other stick or sticks.

What are the details on the RAM and CPU? Also, what brand and model of PSU?

I will the thing with the ram right now. The pn on the ram reads OCZ2RPR10664GK. The cpu from what I gather from the internet is an intel pentium 4 530. The psu is a coolmax 500w silent can. Hope that helps!

Okay, so 2 x 2GB 1066MHz DDR2 with two DIMM slots. Make sure when you check them that the stick and DIMM slot are clean (you can use canned air, isopropyl alcohol, coffee filters and qtips), and that the stick is fully seated and that both locks are engaged. Also, if there's a discrete video card installed, or any drives, go ahead and disconnect them until you can get into the BIOS. Let me know if you can get it that far.

Still nothing, the ram and the dim slots are fine. I've unplugged the hdd, the cd and dvd drives, and the sd card reader. Still nothing :/
