Good motherboard for A10 7850k?

Solution

For gaming and usual stuff, it will make little difference versus the FX-6350, but if you also do a lot of video editing/professional rendering the FX-8350 is the better choice (usually, the FX8xxx series goes head-to-head with the i5 and even i7 in multi-threaded applications).

Hello,

The A88X-G45 is a good quality motherboard, just bear in mind that the APU needs a very fast memory for fully utilize the built-in graphics (the faster the better, 2133 or 2400MHz; also, the lower the latency the better). You can expect acceptable gaming performance in FHD (1920x1080), between 20 and 50 FPS, with low-medium details. Also, remember to go for a good aftermarket cooler.

However, if you are not an avid gamer and you don't want to overclock, I would go with this (the A10-7850K is overpriced for what it has to offer):

http://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GA-Z97-HD3--LGA1150-CrossFireX-Motherboard/dp/B00LPW4Y8Q/ref=sr_1_22?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1410120256&sr=1-22&keywords=z97

It will be faster than the A10-7850K in any usage scenario except games, and when you will have the budget you can add any graphics card (260x or 750Ti, for example) for much better graphics performance. Also, you can use lower clocked memory (1600MHz is the sweet spot) which is cheaper, and the stock cooler is all it needs.

I have a ASUS GTX 660, so should I be fine? I will probably overclock it also, not much, just to get a little bit of a boost.

If you have already a GPU (which by the way is much, much more powerful than the A10's onboard R7), then the 7850K become a very bad choice. Go for the i3 setup or, if you want to stay with AMD, an FX-6350:

Would it be a good idea to get FX-8350?

Thanks for the help, I might end up getting the A10 7850k anyways, i'm not sure. If not that, probably just going to get the 8350.
