I have an Acer Aspire 5750. I have had this laptop for coming on two years and for around 6 months, I have had no sound.
Initially the issue was Spotify not working, stated that there was an error with the soundcard - looked online and a solution seemed to be to uninstall and reinstall the audio driver.
I uninstalled the audio driver and attempted to reinstall and it would not work.
I have tried downloading it directly from the Realtek website and installing from a file, reinstalling the driver using the troubleshooter, scanning for hardware changes and restoring.
When scanning for hardware changes, an unknown device was found but it remained "unknown" and it did not reinstall the audio driver.
I am running Windows 7. Please let me know if you need anymore information. Thank you in advance!

Thank you for replying, tried that but still no sound.
I've also realised that when I try to update the driver through device manager, it says that the driver is up to date.
So, I guess I now have an audio driver installed but it is not functioning.
I have also tried to "Scan for hardware changes" in device manager and now "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" is appearing but with a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark.
I have tried disabling it and enabling it again as well as uninstalling and scanning for hardware changes again. Nothing is helping.

Any ideas?
