Pentium G3258 vs Core i5-4690K vs i7-4790K

Solution
The i5-4690k would be the best option if you need a moderately-priced gaming CPU. It's hard to convince me that the i7-4790k is useless in gaming, though, because it has a much faster clock frequency. If you can afford the 4790k, then go for it since it's also great for RTS / MMO games, video editing and streaming.
get the i5, while the g3258 is a great budget cpu, the lack of 2 cores really limits it (it's great if you're on tight budget though)
but since you have (or plan to) a good gpu, it makes sense to pair it with a good cpu. 4 cores will help in games (few years ago it won't)
just get the i5, oc if you want to.

if the 4790k is only an extra $80 why not get that? I wouldve done that if the price difference was that small for me. but I didnt have that option since the price difference was and still is $150 difference for me in Canada (4790k: $400 4690k: $250) the extra threads will help in the future and even now for games like arma and battlefield

I disagree with the above post to an extent. If you are rendering the Xeon 1231 v3 is good but the i5 is the best option if you are gaming / non streaming / not editing and wanting to overclock. I would get the Xeon if budget allows or just get a 4690 or something and save yourself 20 dollars to put to a enhanced graphics card or something.
