Shall I get a new GPU or CPU for my needs?

Okay, I'm new to PC building an upgrading etc, so sorry if it sounds a bit like a stupid question lol

I currently have a GTS 250; 4gb DDR2 Ram and an AMD Athlon x2 250 (I also have a ddr3 motherboard that I might use depending on the answer)

I am planning on upgrading my PC, but I don't have enough money to upgrade everything at once. I regularly play games, and I do a LOT of heavy-ish video editing. I was wondering if it's worth either upgrading my RAM+GPU, or RAM+ CPU as I play games like black ops 2, BF3/4, but I get dreadful FPS. I would like to preferably have Chrome, After Effects and a game open (which I currently can't do) but I don't know which would help more for getting reasonable fps while having those program's open. I have a budget of roughly £200-£230, so is it worth getting:

Vengeance 8GB RAM + AMD fx-6300 + Coolermaster Seidon Watercooling

or

Vengeance 4GB RAM + GTX 760

or

GTX 770

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the wording, I'm not so good at explaining xD

You will need to upgrade the CPU in order to fully support a new GPU of that level. You'll just be wasting money if you buy a GPU that powerful with that weak CPU.

What motherboard do you have? I'm concerned with the age of it in order to support the 6300FX.

My initial impression is don't upgrade, save money and start fresh.

The FX line of AMD processors requires an AM3+ socket. If your MB uses the older AM3 socket, you won't be able to upgrade to the FX-6300.
Your Athlon II dual core is probably maxed out with the older gfx card you have now, so no real sense in upgrading the card alone. A faster Phenom II X4 processor would let you move to a faster gfx card, but they are getting scarce and only found as used.

For heavy video editing, you'll need:

Intel Core i7-4790 (vanilla or K version)
z97 motherboard
16 GB DDR3 RAM (2x8GB 1600 MHz)

I have a 970a-ds3p motherboard, and I'm not too worried about bottlenecks at this moment in time, as I'm going to get a job soon(ish), so I will be able to fix that bottleneck in about a month or two. :)

If you still want to use an AMD board, then the 8350 is the way to go. Just make sure that the board is AM3+ compatible.

If this is your MB: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=...
...then you are good to go with the FX-6300 or FX-83xx.
