I'm in the market to replace my cheap Logitech G105 keyboard with a mechanical one. I've got my mind set on Cherry MX Brown switches, I've tried Reds and Blacks and don't like the fact that there is no tactile feedback on them. The Blues look like they would be nice but the clicking would probably annoy me over time. The primary use of my rig is for gaming, but I do use it for typing and general use like browsing the net, too. Back lit keyboards are preferable over non lit ones for me. I prefer blue or white for the most part.

Two I've been looking at are the Corsair Vengeance K70, and the Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid i, both with brown switches. I'm leaning toward the Cooler Master because the white back lighting appeals more to me over the red of the Corsair. Can anyone who owns either of them comment on the functionality and quality of them? Do they use software like Razer and Logitech do for customization? Any other recommended keyboards with the MX Brown switches that are good for gaming?

I can sympathise. My G105 is a dog! I'm looking for a MS Sidewinder X4 next. Hard to get in Australia.

K70 - http://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-k70-fully-mechanica... - key by key programmable backlighting, no macros,

Rapid - http://event.coolermaster.com/rapidi/ - programmable backlighting, no macros

Budget? There's also -

Das Model S Professional - http://shop.daskeyboard.com/products/das-keyboard-profe... -

Coolermaster Mech - http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/me... - lighting and macros

Ducky - http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/en/ZERO_DK2108.html - plain but good

Yes it is! loud as hell, and takes a good amount of force to push the keys down lol. I was looking into the Sidewinder actually, it is supposedly the most recommended budget gamer keyboard there is at the moment. Upgraded my mouse from the cheap Logitech one I had before to a Deatadder 2013, now time for the keyboard to tie it all together. Anyways, I never use macros at all really, so I suppose that doesn't matter much at all. I like the look of the Ducky ones, I think I like the minimalist look better than the Megatron looking ones.

check your favorite stores, they usually list the switches available for the particular model (at least they should)
i have 9087 ducky shine 2 if i am not mistaken. it is TKL so it is shorter

Well, I was having a difficult time finding the Ducky ones here, so I decided to go with the Corsair K70 over the CM Rapid because of the Corsair's number pad, which I didn't notice the CM lacked. It looks like a pretty solid keyboard. Looking very forward to stashing this Logitech away lol. Thanks for help guys!
