Hello, I am building a rig and I am stuck between getting 32GB's of either Dominator Platinum (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...) or the new Hyperx Beast memory (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...). I am mainly looking at the aesthetics of the system. The Hyperx memory is cheaper and has high clock speed but, it has a higher latency.

The rig i will be putting it in to:

Both RAM is the same quality as it is made with the same chips. All RAM chips come from one factory in Asia, so basically all DDR3 RAM is the same quality. Brand should never matter when shopping for DDR3 RAM.

If this is for gaming, get whatever is cheaper. the difference in RAM speeds will seriously equate to 0-3fps at most in the build.

Also, get 16gb RAM, not 32gb. You should be trying to save money and get a 780ti as a normal 780 will not max games at that resolution at all.

I will be doing video editing on the computer with large files (8GB), will 16gb be enough?

16gb should be plenty yes. 8gb video files are not very big.

With the Gene, I'd look at the GSkill Tridents X and prob min of 1866/8 or 2133/9 with your rig, the Tridents are stronger and have a better CL that either the Beasts' or the Dominators.

Tiny: there are a number of chip makers i.e. Hynix has plants in China and Korea

I have read lot of reviews that say although there are many chip makers 90%+ or so of mainstream DDR3 chips come from the Korean plant.

Hynix, Samsung and Micron are the 3 biggest, but there are numerous others
