2-way SLI GeForce GTX 760, R9 280x, R9 290, or R9 290x?

At the moment I have a single GTX 760, and am wondering what I should upgrade towards. I am still able to refund the 760 for full price, meaning I don't need to lean more towards that. My budget is around $500, and there are a few 290x's at $500 so that is also a possibility. My case only has a 140mm, and 2 120mm fans, and my room is very small, but does have decent ventilation, which is why I am wondering if I should SLI or not.

as much as I want to believe that the 980 will be $500, and as much of an nvidia fan i have been over the years, i find it way too hard to believe the $500 price point assuming the performance is what it's said to be. since i'm getting a 4K monitor i will probably upgrade from my GTX 780 SLI set up to GTX 980 SLI. and i'm expecting a $1500 bill for those babies.

having said that, i agree that you should wait for the GTX 980 unveiling in just 2 weeks. every time a new flagship GPU lands, price drops follow them immediately.

Just so you guys know, it will not be until at least Christmas time that I will be getting another card, due to the fact that I am 14 and am looking for an upgrade but don't quite yet have the money to do so. Meaning I will be waiting quite a bit more than when the 980 is unveiled.

Sounds good. I have been constantly reconsidering my choices, from buying a R9 280x, saving for a 290x, going for SLI 760s, etc. I'm still not confident with any decision and am open for any suggestions.

I'm currently running 2 monitors at 1080p and am planning on eyefinity or Nvidia surround and the 760 won't do on max settings with the 3 I don't think, especially with titanfall or upcoming GTA or. Assassins Creed unity

I researched a little bit, and there was the mentioning of it being around the same price point of the 780, being $499, although I would thought it would be more like $599, as well as the 970 being $399, and 960 being $299. It may not be entirely impossible for it to be $500-$600, and I hope it is, and will most likely buy one if it is only $500 (which would be amazing.)
