If the SB power led does not come on when the PSU is switched on, does that mean its likely the PSU or MB..

..that's the problem? When a build with brand new parts will not run on the first try, nothing happens when everything is plugged in correctly and the power switch is pushed. The Stand By PWR LED will not come on! Does that point to mb or PSU as the problem and should I go buy another PSU and try it? I don't have another to try.

The LED points to nothing at all .

Gotcha, there were incompatible components- I hadn't built a system in nearly a decade, but I didn't realize the massive compatibility problems that can arise if you re a little less than vigilant in your building. It's hard with being a seriously ill individual without a family.. It turned out i the Sabertooth x79 doesn't take DDR3 2400mhz ram-only 1000-1800? & there are compatibility issues with my Ivy Bride E and the 1.65v ram. So both the mb and cpu had issues with the ram. But I suspect it was the ram issue that was keeping the thing from turning on. I've ended up sending parts back and getting an Asus Rampage Black and new ram.
