Unexpected shutdown while formatting c drive through windows 7 setup.

Hello there,
I was trying to format windows due to some registry errors. while formatting c drive power went down system restarted.when i tried installing back there were no partitions available.

I was just formatting c drive, not the whole HDD.

HDD is WD 1tb sata drive.
when i installed OS on second and connected this WD 1tb as secondary drive, the whole data is showing unallocated. I had 7 partitions on this drive and I want those back.

Any reply will be much appreciated.

From what I can see, your best bet is to run a 3rd party application to try and recover the data. One called TestDisk is worth a try. You can find it here; http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

I'm personally not too familiar with this type of software though so it's very possible someone else can suggest something better.

that test disk stops at 20 percent of its scan. tried running it several times but no success

Easeus partition manager claims it can recover lost/deleted partitions. I haven't used it in years, but had good results in the past.

FindAndMount is also a recommended partition recovery tool.

Hi there thanks for such prompt reply.
update about easeus partition recovery wizard.

** Fast scan did not come up with any result but the one 100mb partition intentionally deleted.
** Complete scan showing some of the EXT2, EXT3, FAT12,NTFS, and FAT16 partitions which i dont have any idea what are they,including my partitions
** Should i just recover my old partitions only or these boot, MISO_EFI, EFISECTOR, PM80 partitions also?

Fundamentally i have some things in my hand and dont know which fish to catch.

All the data detected by Eseus complete partition recovery is uploaded with this text
any further reply will be much appreciated.

Bingo... thank you Hawkeye22 and Chris Scott 84.Just selected partitions and Easeus partition recovery did the magic for me. your replies and solutions really much appreciated. Because of you guys i got my 900 gb data back.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was out for most of the day, but glad you got it all worked out. I would have started by just recovering the partitions you knew about as you could always restore the others later.
