Kaveri's are AMD APUs that are almoast 150$ cheaper than any i7, so you cant compare them. The idea is, that if you play games on the IGPU then you will have worst performance with an i7 than the APU form AMD. If you add a dedicated GPU, thats a different story.

If you currently have a dual-core APU or something, then I would get the new Athlon X4 860K. The Athlon X4 860K is an excellent CPU for $85, and with a good overclock, it can come close to the low-end i5, the i5-4430, which is a lot of bang for your buck.

If you need a lot of CPU in your workloads, and you already have a quad-core Kaveri CPU, then I would recommend the Xeon 1231v3 as your CPU, paired with an H97 motherboard.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($247.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 PERFORMANCE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $322.97

That configuration will give you i7 performance at nearly the price of an i5. Again, that is only if you really need it for your workload (ie. you are editing a lot of video, playing cutting edge games with a high-end graphics card, etc. ) otherwise, an Athlon X4 860K or 7850K will suffice you just fine.

Well, for a crossfire, I would seriously recommend an upgrade. I bet your CPU is running on the very fringes of not being a bottleneck, and I bet in more CPU-intensive games it can be a real bottleneck.

For your crossfire, get this:

Remember, you will need to reinstall Windows if you do this.

Bottlenecking at the moment essentially means that one item is holding back your system. You will find that the 7970 is capable of better than your performance and the CPU is restraining the FPS.

This is likely to continue with a crossfire set up, and I would wager you'll see roughly 55 fps in black flag once again. The GPU is not the limiting factor.

Exactly.
