Hey guys,,yesterday i installed Watch dogs on my pc and Auto-detect set it to low settings.I increased to medium but still had lag spikes,,so i turned off Vsync and ambient occlusion and now am getting around 30-55 fps,,sometimes it drops below 30 and still has lag spikes and driving is even worse,,,i have seen videos and read forums of people getting better performance in similar configs at 768p.So i am confused.how should it run on my system?

watchdogs is a very demanding game which is badly coded so its normal for your card and processor to give you the fps you are getting.

Hi Shantanu,

I can understand the lag spikes issue, brother. Anyway, please read the following points -

1. You have been watching videos? I believe it's Youtube. Not being mean but you have wasted a lot of time. There are many videos online that are fake/inappropriate and what you see in there, will not be the same in real. You have to concur.

2. Watch Dogs is very poorly optimized PC game ever I've seen in my life. This game has quantity over quality. Your card can handle this game from low-medium graphic settings. Also, it's pretty much lower than the recommended requirements. Click here to learn more about it.

3. If you are facing too much lag spikes for this graphics card, then you need to know on how to increase the core voltage. It will definitely mitigate the choppy game play and other minor lags (my personal experience). Use MSI afterburner to overclock it. Don't mess up with the core- and-memory clocks and power limit. Let them be the same; Just give an uplift to Vcore.

For example: My MSI R9 270X had 1.206V as stock voltage. I had lag spikes in most of the games running in ultra graphics. Hence I decided to increase the voltage to 1.35V which in turn made my gaming life, a lag free world.

Be careful while performing this operation. Make sure your graphics card temperature doesn't surpass 75C under heavy load. To test it, use UNIGINE HEAVEN BENCHMARK. You can adjust the fan profile to maintain the temperature even when voltage is increased. Fan speed can be set up to 85% (quoted for safety).

Hope I've Helped.

As said before, this watch dogs is poorly optimized. I use 'TheWorse' Mod for graphics improvement. Also, if this is the only game with lag spikes, then forget about overvolting the card.
