Hello Everyone!
So I just installed the Evo Hyper 212 cooler in my pc (Awesome so far)......but it seems like I'm 2 steps behind now........

My Spdif Out (Digital Out) is not working....I can't hear anything!!!
The PC "Sees" the Digital Out I can "Test" it.......If I play a movie it acts as if it's working......

This all happened after I installed the cooler.....I don't know if I messed something up.....

Here is what I have:
Asrock 870 Extreme 3 Motherboard......
I use the Digital Out to my Turtle Beach DSS2 (Sound Processor) into my Headphones......

I tried downloading the latest driver from Asrock (RealTek).....and nothing!!! The Signal is not coming out of the port (Red Light).....The Audio works fine on my TV (Dvi to Hdmi).....

I ordered this just now:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I assume this will bypass whatever issue I'm having on the motherboard......There is a little SPDIF 2 pin on the motherboard, but I have NO IDEA what it connects to, but like I said this has never been an issue before.....

Sorry, I'm just a bit frustrated

Did you have power on at any stage when fitting the cooler?

Check in Control Panel, Device manager to see if all your audio devices are working properly and have the latest drivers.

I've downloaded the latest drivers, everything is "Working"......I can select the SPDIF as a device in playback options, but there is no red light.....basically no signal......

I also know that there is a little 2 pin header on the motherboard (SPDIF).....With nothing attached to it......Maybe that's why it's not working.......I don't remember anything being connected to it. All I know is it has stopped working as of last night.......

The sound card, I picked out arrives tomorrow..... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I just need to use my setup I have.......I cannot purchase anything else.....This is why the optical out not working is so frustrating considering it makes zero sense. Realtek Manager shows it......

If the optical out is a lost cause, this sound card should be a fine fix.....Again, all I need is the PC/Soundcard to "Pass Through" the Digital Signal.....My Turtle beach DSS will decode the file. I watch .mkv movies and use Turtle Beach X41s.

Does the motherboard manual say what that spdif pin is for?

If I recall correctly for taking the audio from the GPU to the Spdif so it can be used with HDMI......Something along those lines......

Like I said, now I'm second guessing myself....Was it plugged in or not lol.....
Just trips me out that it's no longer working......

I made sure to stay grounded while working....Is it possible, I fried that ONE component on the board and nothing else???

Do you think the Sound Card will solve my issue? Any other suggestions?
