Well, <mod edit>
My GPU is relatively new, placed the Amazon order on the 18 September 2013 so installed around 3/4 days later
My PSU is a Corsair CX500M, I'm confident 500Ws is enough and from a reliable brand, shouldn't be a problem. Not ruling it out as a possibility though
I could try another VGA cable, I'll get back to you after trying another one
I doubt corrupted drivers as two days ago I clean installed (via Nvidia installer) with new drivers after being told by a guy on the live chat
I'd really hate to have to RMA as my CPU doesn't have onboard lol
Thank you both for your help
I'll get back after tying another cable

You're now connected to Amazon from Amazon.co.uk
Me:bought a GTX 650 in September 2013 which is now defective. Artifacts appearing on screen
Amazon:Hello, my name is Amazon. I'll be happy to help you today.
I'm sorry to hear that your product has developed fault.
Allow me a minute to check your order and do the needful.
Me:Thank you
Amazon:I see that this item was purchased on September 18th, 2013 from the thrid party seller "XYZ" and is within warranty.
Me:So I'm allowed to exchange?
Amazon:As the item is sold by the seller you are requested to contact the seller regarding the exchange option.
Me:Alright, thank you very much
Guess I'll be contacting the seller
So much work for so little, ergh

You can still try customer support, you might be surprised! On the tech side that card is either roasted as everyone else has said or the vrm phases are failing. Seen cards do strange things when the vrms start going bad.
This is why you should buy quality when there is the option to do so.
Asus is quality?!

Not all their card no and certainly not most of their laptops. Their mid range cards on up are pretty solid except for one or two flaws.

Hopefully the reseller isn't a complete <mod edit> haha
I can't take the RMA route, I have a 6100 in my system which doesn't have onboard. I'd be without my computer for around 14 days, i'm such a loser lol
'On the tech side that card is either roasted as everyone else has said' Never seen my temps go above 60C and was playing Ghosts
'This is why you should buy quality when there is the option to do so.'
Didn't really have alot of money at the time, saved 90 pound and bought that, i thought Asus was a good brand?
If the reseller is a nice guy should I see about getting a refund? If so, what GPU would you recommend?
System:
AMD 6100 (Stock HS&F and clock)
2TB HDD (7200)
GTX650
Corsair CX500M
RAM doesn't use much W and neither does the MoBo? If you would like the MoBo model, just ask
Thank you
<Mod Warning: I'm not going to warn you about language again>

Dear mod
I swore twice.
The first time and second time were both before you edited them.
So I didn't get the first warning before getting the second
If it was edited as the time of posted, I wouldn't of swore in the second answer.
Regardless, sorry
In answer to your question, I start driving within a few days, my provisional should be here before my birthday on the 13th
So around the price would be ideal but could stretch a little as have money saved for lessons and insurance/car etcetc
Thank you

Should be able to get this beast of a card
http://www.hwcompare.com/15670/geforce-gtx-650-vs-radeo...
Completely reks it
Only around 40 pound more than what I paid for my GTX650
The onyl question, I used coolermasters psu calculator
Said 420W(;)) was my recommended
![]()
I have a Seagate Barracuda which is SATA not IDE, how much more power is used?
TL;DR
R9 270X Sapphire boost OC ~ 500W Corsair
AMD 6300 95W TDP
1 7200 SATA HDD
MSI 760GM-P21 (FX) (Looking to upgrade hopefully along with case, cpu, psu when I get job and more money)
Would you say I could push the 180W from that card?
Thank you

UPDATE
Just took my PC outside, rewired it all and cleaned it all out, dust filters, fans, PSU etcetc
Done some cable management as I completely redid it all
Just switched on my PC now so I'll see if the artifacts come back
I also took a look at the GTX760 which is a bit of a push away from my budget for a card but the performance is worth tbh
Plus, NVIDIA > AMD because of Shadowplay, Geforce experience and more game support
The card performs strongly in all 1080p games which draws me in and the Gigabyte version is overclocked, with three fans providing substantial cooling for an extra overclock.
If anyone has owned a GTX760 could you review it please, thank you.

So I SHOULD be able to use the 760 OC with my 500W PSU?
Is there enough amps and stuff? I have no idea about PSUs haha
Ah, that's bought a smile to my face, thank you
Would battlefield 3/4 at medium/high 1080p be fully loaded?
GTA4/5 at 1080p medium/high fully load?
When I can afford a 750W PSU i'll defo upgrade but the priority for my parts are Graphics card, CPU cooler, case, PSU
Thanks

Well that is up to you- its an ongoing debate.
Just to let you know, with nvidia although you get shadowplay etc, you are missing on mantle (which is BIG). And your theory of more games supported is kind of wrong because AMD and NVIDIA support all games. It is just that some are optimised for either team green or team red

Never understood Mantle haha
But shadowplay and the Geforce experience is a big draw in imho
I had an AMD card that idled around 50C
My NVIDIA card idles at 32C

Only time will tell on that, the same thing was being said about GPU accelerated physics some years back when ATi (who were the first by the way) showed off what they intended to do and look how that turned out.

Maybe I have missed it but have you tried a complete re-install of drivers?
Yeah, an NVIDIA support guy told me to do a complete clean install via the driver installer thing
I have rewired my whole pc and haven't had any yet, so fingers crossed
I don't recognize the first screenshot but it looks a little like a Linux window manager.
Are you running Windows or Linux?
