3 weeks ago i built my pc and everything smooth up unitl now.

my specs are as follows

i7 4970k
msi z97 g45 mb
gtx 780
8gb ram
250bg Samsung evo
nzxt silent classic case
and windows 8.1

it started 2 days ago and what will happen is game play is fine running every game on max and then all of a sudden it would suddenly freeze\stutter then game play would be fine and then it would happen again.

At first i thought it was just BF4. So i began to test other games such as smite/WoW and other mmoba but the same problem is occurring be it slightly less.

checked for driver updates they are up to date so i recorded temperatures as follows.

Note i plan to Overclock in the future but not quite just yet so im using intel stock atm

Cpu

across the cores highest minimum was 45'c and highest maximum was 72'c

Gpu

lowest 35'c highest 40'c

these were all tested for the games whilst running in windows max out for 30mins each game

Thank you before hand for any support are these safe operating temperatures apart from a new CPU cooler i am clueless on how to proceed.

Solution
OK, your Vcore is good and your power supply voltages too.

Your cpu is getting too hot. By elimination, the cpu cooler isn't seated on the cpu well enough. You need to re-seat it - power off. remove fan from cooler. remove cooler. use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean the old thermal paste off the bottom of the cooler and top of the cpu. Put a pea size drop of new Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste on teh cpu and put the cooler back on then the fan and plug it back in.

That should get your cpu temp back down to 35C max on idle and 50C max while gaming.

If not, get a better cpu cooler eg Noctua DH 14 or Corsair H100i.
For a start you don't have a power supply. That'll be why things don't work quite right.

What cpu cooler?

Install Click Bios 4 that came with your motherboard and post the cpu temps at idle and gaming.

Also post readings for Vcore and cpu fan rpm.

Also post the readings for the 12v, 5v and 3.3v rails.

Are you getting GPU readings from Afterburner?

thanks for so quick of a reply i appreciate a hell of a lot.

^^ yes no psu could pose a great problem - i have 630watt plus bronze semi modular

core is runing at 4ghz
idle it says 44'c for Cpu
Motherboard 35'c
fan speed is hovering between 1200-1300rpm

how do i check for the rail readings and gaming temps using click bios 4 i though you have to restart my pc to access it i used cupid hw monitor for the results i previously posted

using this vcore 0.05 - 0.2
12 v 12.14444
5v 5.12
3v 3.296
are these the values you were lookin for ?
