Hey community,

Recently built my mid tower at home.
Windows 7
i7 4790k
Asus maximus 7 hero
cm evo 212
r9 290x
16gb 2133
840 pro 256gb
1000w goldplus
blah blah...

My monitor is the VS278QP, for a couple days now my screens been blinking randomly. ive noticed it occurs when im not active on the PC (like not using the mouse or typing) regardless if im playing bf4 or browsing the web. As soon as i sit back it will blink/flicker, but just once every 20-30secs. As soon as i start playing again, or become active the blink stops. Ive updated all drivers that i am aware of, even went and bought a new "gold" HDMI cable. Still cant figure it out.

I had the same issue when i was using my previous (to small) montior LG 25UM65.

Thanks for all help

DVI-E? never heard of DVI-E. I have DVI-D. Wouldn't that affect the quality though over the hdmi cable?

solutions ive attempted:
1. changed HDMI cables.
2. Used DVI-D cable instead of HDMI cable.
3. changed monitors. Asus VS278q, and LG 25UM65
4. uninstalled, rebooted then installed GPU driver. about 2 times. even installed beta driver that AMD has on site.
5. checked refresh rate settings, all set correctly

im out of options. HELP!

Check in your configuration if your monitor is not standing on a setup called Flickering Lights, this is a monitor feature that when you are AFK ( Away from Keyboard ) your monitor was start to blink.

Secondary option what you can do is, if you have an TV try to plug your computer on your TV, if the same thing happens, it has nothing to do with your monitor. But it's gonna be something that you did wrong in the process of building your PC or it's something wrong in the setup.

Let me know if you have more questions,

sorry meant dvi-d. But looks like that didn't help. May be the GPU. May try exchanging it for the same model? just a thought.

Ill check if my Asus VS278Q has that setting when im home. But i dont remember seeing it. have you seen it on that monitor?

ive had two different monitors and they both did the same thing, as i stated the LG 25UM65 and now this Asus.

Its not the montior, it has to be something, i know its simple i just dont know what it can be.

i looked at the build, i didnt make any mistakes.

I did how ever use the two far right memory slots, because of the high profile vengence cards (low profile was out of stock, i couldnt wait). But im pretty sure that wouldnt be it nothing wrong with that setup.

still no clue, no options.

I have a feeling that it has sadly to do something with your power, Maybe your power supply, does not have enough W to perform on both the terms. Atleast this is the only thing I can think of right now, I will come back on it later, and I will do some research on this.

My Corsair RM1000 80+G should be plenty to power all that up? I would think. Would my BIOS being 0508 effect it, since the latest one is 1108. about 4 updates behind? im going to update the BIOS and see how that effects it.
