Hello all.

I booted my PC up for the first time today and it started fine. I then tried to change the DDR3 to 1866mhz as this is the speed of my ram. Upon restarting to install the OS i got a red light next to the ram so I am now confused as to how to boot back into the BIOS. Please help

Mobo Asus z97-a / crucial ballistix tactical 1866 ddr3 [2x4GB]. Installed for dual channel as recommended by the mobo manual. CPU Intel i5 4690k

Many thanks I look forward to your advice!

Hello Carlo, thank you for reply!

I cleared the BIOS/CMOS set the DDR3 to default but I notice that I also get a red light for the CPU too :( and also still a red light for the DDR3

Gutted! Any ideas ?

:(

EDIT: I just cleared CMOS for a 3rdtime but i notice, and no idea if this is normal but booted into BIOS setup again and have a red light on next to the boot device LED. The OS disc was still in the case as I had to hold down the OFF button to stop it from booting.

I also notice that in the bios my RAM is recognised as 1333mhz but it is 1866mhz

Many thanks

Hello Carlo

Sorry not been able to log in all day. I eventually managed to boot up without issues after clearing CMOS but still got the red cpu and red ram lights on the mobo. There is 1 audible beep from mobo speaker. It still allowed me to reset and install OS though!...

However I cant change the ram from 1333mhz to its 'native' 1866 despite the Ram being listed in the z97-a manual as compatible. I have no idea why...

One other rather large issue is that I have no audio..non at all. The speakers on my Asus VG248QE monitor - no sound at all - I am connected via DVI with no other connections.

I installed the case (Cooler Master CM 690 III) connectors and chose to connect HD audio instaed of the Azalia (?) Ac97.

I have a pair of Razer Kraken 7.1 USB headphones fresh out of the box - No audio!, regardless as to whether I plug them into the front panel I/O case connectors in front of case or directly into the mobo I/O panel at the rear :(

No idea what I am, doing wrong. Please help !

many thanks in advance!
