Okay so I had a recent power surge that killed my desktop PC
I luckily just purchased a Lenovo Y40 laptop that has two graphics cards (Intel HD Graphics and an AMD R9 M275)
I can get it to run with great FPS on Dota 2 when using the laptop screen, but when I hook it up to my monitor I cant figure out how to force it to run games on the AMD card thats in it. I get 20 FPS when hooked to my monitor so its obviously using the Intel HD graphics. Is the HDMI out port maybe only tied to the Intel chip? thanks!

Both my monitor and laptop are 1080p, and I already changed my global switchable graphics settings to maximize performance. Could it be that my HDMI out port is only tied to Intel graphics? I have tried multiple times, I even went on my monitor first... 20 fps, I unplugged it and started another game, 60 fps.

I would get the same issue with my Lenovo Y40, (SIDE NOTE: the Lenovo Y40 has a 1920/1080 anti glare display), if you uninstall the Intel graphics driver from your driver manager then the computer will be forced to use the AMD chip. at first the computer will seem like it is slower, give it 2-7 days and it should run at its normal speed.
