My friend had to recently return his processor, an i3 4130 yet he thought he might as well upgrade to an i5 4670k and overclock it, he asked me about it and i was unsure if his power supply would support it an xfx 450w core pro edition. so could it work. and also what overclock could we get. And also i know its a h81 but asus have unlocked the overclocking on it up to 4.2ghz i think.

system specs:
i5 4670k
crucial ballistix tracer 8gb 1600mhz
R9 270 MSI Gaming 2G Twin frozr
1tb hybrid hard drive
asus h81m-plus
3 led fans 1 normal each 120mm
xfx 450w core edition

Looking at the PSU quality, which is good, I'd say it'll work. I've seen people with 280X on 450W Gold PSUs (obviously higher quality than Pro Edition), so you should be good.

Yes Asus have unlocked some OCing features On H81 MoBos so that OC will be possible, make sure you have an af cooler :)

You were right on your ground, a 550W (600W to be on the extremely safe side) will be enough for good OCing and lots of headroom, but since he already owns it (and has done OCing on it too), I'm certain it won't be a problem, cheers :)

Yes just increase multiplier until you BSoD on stress testing, you'd be on around 4.0-4.2Ghz then so you can stop there or play with VCore a bit.
