I recently bought a Kingston HyperX cloud gaming headset and the white plastic bits on either side of the headband have started to turn yellowy brown on the edges. I noticed this yesterday and I now know that white plastic can lose its color eventually, for example really old computers or consoles sometimes go yellow but I've only had this headset for a week! I've either been using it or it's just been on my desk. Has anyone had experience of white peripherals going yellow in the past? And do you think I could return it for the black edition? It's not just on one side or edge, its on both sides of the headset and in all the corners, some worse than others. There are no smokers ever in the house and Ive tried and failed to scrub it of with a damp microfiber cloth so I am pretty sure it is an actual stain or discoloration of the plastic.

if you are sure that its not staining from actual use or abuse then yes i see no reason why you couldnt return it. by itself it shouldnt be discoloring.

the only thing i can think of for it turning that color within a week is staining from you using it, dragging it on a desk or other such abuse but if you are sure that this is not the case then thats odd to see such short term coloring.

I've thought about it and I think it is very unlikely that I could've caused the coloring. Mainly because it is in the exact same place on both sides in all four corners so what are the chances of me accidentally damaging or staining the headset in all those places. I've also been using it a lot but it hasn't left my desk at all. I've heard too much exposure to UV light can do this kind of thing but I wouldn't expect that to happen over a week. I'm not sure of anything that could stain it like this that would've come into contact with the plastic.

well if you are sure then return it for being faulty and get the black version.

the problem with these things are, that you have no proof that the stain is actually caused on a random moment, and not by you.

This is why I take a picture of my headphones, from many different angles, to make sure. That if something strange happens, I have proof that it wasn't like that.

In this case, return your headphone back to the manufacturer. Make your story clear, that it's brand new or something. And that you want to have a replacement.

Any more questions, you can ask me?
Go ahead I have all day.
