Hey guys I have been reading the forums on here but can't figure out my problem. I have an AMD FX 6300 along with a Gigabyte ga-970a-d3p board. I changed the stock 3.5 GHz to 4.00ghz and got the bsod. I reset to factory by taking out the motherboard battery but still same issue. Anything I can do to resolve this? Preferably with setting it to 4.0 GHz. Not sure if you guys need other info but I will hapilly provide it. (Been fighting for 4 days tinkering with the voltage and nothing. Currently defaulted.)

Find a good overclocking guide and read it before you go further. Removing the battery from the motherboard was not needed or advised here. All you must do to fix the issue is to lower the multiplier below 40 so you are running below 4Ghz or increase voltage.

Yea I wouldn't mind using a guide like you mentioned however I have made sure sure the settings have been reverted to default and still the same issue. Not sure why when defaulted its getting the bsod. I even tried reinstalling windows with the same issue.

That is the thing, the settings didn't reset to default. You have to pull the PSU from the wall outlet and pull the battery and let it sit for a good 10 minutes to be safe, but then you have to go and change all the settings in Bios back to what they should be.

THe much easier, simpler, faster, better solution is to go into BIOS and just lower the CPU multiplier. That is the only thing causing your PC to BSOD, and all you need to do to fix it.

Perfect I'll try that tonight I only let it sit for 30 seconds. As for the cpu multiplier what is that? I don't remember seeing that as an option. Would it be called something else?
