Building a new PC and was plannig to put the MSI Gaming 5 Z97 mobo in there. Cooling is very important for me, what fan type should i use? PWM or just regular ones? Wil the mobo be able to controll the speed by temperature if I go with regular fans, or do i need PWM ones?
Do I need PWM fans for them to be temperature controlled?

That's the easiest way to do it.
You can go PWM or thermally controlled. But the thermally controlled fans will have a temp sensor that needs to be placed properly. For the price you may as well just get PWM.
