As the title says, i powered up a brand new pc i bought for the first time but the monitor (which i used on my previous pc) won't work. I am going to buy a new monitor next week so i am not looking for a way to fix this. I just want to know that if i shutdown my pc right now, would it cause any problems. Right now it's probably asking me to instal windows, but i am afraid to shut it down.

More about : opened time monitor work

It would be perfectly safe if you shut it down now and power on later to install Windows.

Go ahead and shut it off - it'll survive.

What is preventing your previous monitor from working? Most motherboards and graphics cards come with sufficient adapters to drive almost any monitor. VGA, DVI, HDMI, display port ...

I actually did fix it. I went to an electronics store and bought a VGA to DVI adaptor. Hooked it up and it worked.
