No boot options in bios

My motherboard is an Asus z97-a 1150.

I have my ssd and optical drive plugged in from their mounts to the psu through a SATA cable. The optical drive is working and i was able to enter my windows cd in and everything. However under my bios I have no boot options. My pc goes straight to bios on startup with no other boot options, why aren't they being detected?

Solution
In bios check FAST BOOT is NOT enabled.
Pretty sure ASUS has this option? I think it skips certain initialization features etc if its enabled.
Also look for AHCI mode instead of IDE for the device.
The section ultimately you want is Boot Priorities or order.
Select your SSD device to be the primary boot device.
Double check on the SSD that it has power cable and a sata cable connected.
We have all forgotten to plug something in at some point, maybe today is your turn ;)
