Hi I have a laptop that just turns itself on at random and wont turn back on unless I change plug socket. Before you say that it is an issue with the socket, it isn't, they all provide power to other items absolutely fine and they work with the laptop sometimes when they failed before. Does anyone know what could be causing this and what I can do to rectify it. Many thanks for assistance.
NB if it helps the computer has no battery (it rejected it).

Im guessing the power brick is getting to hot and turning off. I would say if you unplug it from the wall and plug it right back in to the same socket it would work, basically resetting the brick when you unplug it. Power bricks are not meant to be powersupplies they are meant to charge the battery back up or help support the battery when doing heavy tasks like gaming.

I think its your battery not being able to hold charge. As your laptop gets old the battery loose its capacity and the ability to hold charge. There are so many ways to solve this. The easiest is to remove the battery and keep it plugged in when you are gaming and have at least 40 - 80% of battery when you are doing less intensive tasks. You can also install batteryCare which is a good battery moitoring sofware.
