I need advice on which pc to buy.

Solution
IF you're keeping the CPU stock, the i5 is a better processor for multitasking and productivity. The AMD build can be overclocked if you wish which might close that gap or even pass it with a good liquid cooling solution, just keep in mind results vary depending on the chip and you don't want to break it by trying to push it too far. The AMD build has the better graphics. Upgrading the hard drive is easy so I wouldn't worry about letting the extra 1TB factor into your decision.

If you want the best game performance, the AMD build is what I would go for, since it has the better graphics and you can overclock the CPU if needed. If you need multitasking and productivity first, I'd go with the Intel.

I thought it was better to have a better GPU than a CPU or have I been misled ? Is it a huge difference between the 270x and the 280x ?

That would be correct, you have much more headroom if you're looking to upgrade the CPU down the road with the i5 up to an i7, though I'm fairly certain you won't be able to upgrade to Broadwell in the future since that would require a z97 motherboard, which weren't released until after that CPU hit the market.
