I have recently been having trouble accessing my bios, whenever the Asus splash screen appears and I press f2 or del, I just get a blank screen as an input on my monitor. I have flashed my bios by jumper and by removing the battery, however all I get is the American megatrends screen saying press f1 to recover bios setting. When I press f2 I get the same black screen. I urgently need to access the bios as I stupidly changed my FSB to 216 from 200 in an attempt to overclock my phenom II X4 to 4ghz and now my system is unstable with frequent bsods and no way to revert to my previous oc settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I am pretty sure it isn't an issue worth my gpu not handshaking as at first I could sometimes get into the bios but not always but now I can't seem to access it at all.

Thanks, Cameron.

When you get the black screen, type something. That happened to me and as soon as I typed the first letter of the BIOS password, it showed up. This happened several times till I re-flashed the BIOS and all is good now.

Try resetting the BIOS. Take the MB battery out for 10 to 15 mins with the comp completely unplugged. Then install the battery and etc and see if you can boot into BIOS. If you can you will need to set it all up again.

I have already flashed the bios multiple times by jumper and by removing the cmos battery for a good 5 minutes.

Is there a GUI interface BIOS for that board? If there is, install it and give it a try.

I think you can unselect the best answer if you want to.

Taking out the cmos battery or Changing the jumper setting isn't Re-flashing the bios, To reflash the bios You Should download The Latest Bios from the asus website, Then run the executable. Also, After Resetting the cmos You could try not pressing f1 to recover the bios and rebooting instead, Therefore Removing the oc Settings That cause the instability..

Taking out the MB battery for 10 - 15mins with the PSU unplugged resets the bios to default settings which then requires setting up the BIOS again. After resetting or flashing the BIOS the first thing you should do is set up the BIOS. Make sure the memory and timings are at advertised speeds, sata is set at AHCI or IDE and whatever else needs to be set. After you get a stable running comp, then play around with OCing, etc.
