Hello - I'm trying to add an intake fan to my dell xps 8700 motherboard and the fan hookup looks like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jm63vjdr7424id6/fanquestion.j...

All the other fan ports have the male connectors, like this image:

What do I need to do to make my empty fan port (sys_fan3) usable with the standard 3 or 4 pin fan connectors. Thank you!

The first picture is because that fan port is not present on that motherboard. The other ones are present. Your best option is probably just to get a power adapter to run the fan off of a Molex power adapter. Something like this should work fine (for 3 pin fans):

http://www.amazon.com/HDE%AE-4-Pin-Molex-3-Pin-Cable/dp...

And it is only $4.24 including shipping. Or:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

for $3.98 with free shipping:

If you want to look up something like this on your own, it is called a Molex fan adapter.
