So I'm currently looking into building my own computer. It currently hosts an Intel i7 4790k and 16GB of RAM. I'm very confused when it comes to graphics cards. Firstly, do yous recommend Nvidia or AMD? Secondly, should I look into getting one really good graphics card or two not so good graphics cards working in SLI/CrossFire? I want to be able to run most current games at a high/max quality across three monitors. My graphics budget is £260 - £300. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance ^_^ - feel free to ask any questions if you need to know any more information :)

For your budget a AMD would be better, a r9 280x or a r9 290 would be good if you can afford it, and a single good one is better than multiple not as good

I agree, you always want to get the best single graphics card setup that you can afford and the Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X OC http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FLMKNE0 is an amazing card for the money. It can play any current game on the market at ultra settings with great frame rates at 1080p.

It's preferable to purchase one GPU that is decent when concerned about noise and heat issues.

For playing across three monitors (aka eyefinity) you'll need two potent GPUs. The most popular cards to SLI/crossfire for 3 monitor gaming setups are the GTX 770 and the R9 280X.

They're quite costly when purchasing multiple sadly.

Alrighty, well first off lets not start an AMD/Nvidia debate. If you play games like battlefield and thief, go with AMD because thats what those games were designed for. If you play games like Metro, assassins creed ect, then go with Nvidia.
When choosing a GPU, it's always best to get the best graphics card you can afford, and then go with SLI/Crossfire. The benefits of using multiple GPUs decrease with each card you add.
For £300 you can get some really hefty GPUs. I'm glad to say they wont be bottlenecked with your current config.

On the Nvidia side you could get the 770 FTW version.

On the AMD side you could get the Sapphire R9 290.

Its up to you which you choose of course, and they're pretty equal specs.

From past experience, I would go with Nvidia for their driver support and performance.

The R9 290 is a godly card for the price.
