Dual 6pin to 8 pin on Asus GTX 770

Hi guys.

Today I bought a Asus GTX 770 with the 8pin and 6pin.
I just have 2 6pin cables on my LC8700 Hyperion with 700w.

The gtx 770 come with this cable - http://www.systemagnostic.com/wp-uploads/2013/02/2x6pin-to-8pin-PCIe.jpg - so can I use one 6pin in the adapter or its better to use both 6pin?

If you have three (3) 6 pin cable to plug into yes....

8 pin = 150 watts
6 pin = 75 watts

So with (2) 6-pins feeding 75 watts x 2 into the 8 pin you are OK /.... 2 x75 = 150 watts .... that plus the 3rd 6-pin gives you the necessary 225 watts .... tho you getting up to 75 watts from slot too.

You need to use both of them. If your power supply doesn't have enough cables for your GTX 770 without adapters, you might want to get a new PSU as that one was not meant to handle a GTX 770.

If his PSU only had 6 pins, he will need three (3) of them .....

Two 6 pin @ 75 watts each => Adapter => 8 pin (150 watts)
One 6 pin @ 75 watts each => 6 pin (750 watts)
PCI Slot = 75 watts

150 + 75 + 75 = 300 watts capability ....card only pulls about 197 watts at stock

I know, but generally any 700W PSU that doesn't have any 6+2-pins or 8-pins is very likely to be either very old, or poor quality, possibly both.

3x PCI-Express 6+2 pin

Bit the pic only shows 6 pin on PSU side.....that's not unusual....Seasonic uses a 10 pin connector to produce a 8 plus a 6+2 (splices the ground wires)

So....OP....go back and look at ya cables....web sites say they 6 pin on one end and 6+2 on the other.

Well that looks bit more positive, although having four 12V rails is a bit questionable.

Thanks guys. Ya, the psu says 3x 6+2pins.. but i lost those cables and I dont even remember if they come in the box..

I will just order online other 6pin cable, since I have a open entry on the psu. Just lost all the cables and Portugal lacks of computer stores that sell this cable.. :/

If you order it online, make sure that it was meant for that exact PSU, otherwise you might have problems.
