Hey!
So recently my power got shut off a couple of times while my computer was running. So apparently it had to do a chkdsk which took ~35+ hours, but after the chkdsk i was getting black screen of death.
I can conclude out from that, that some windows files has been messed up, so i want to buy another hard disk, install windows on that. After that i want to try to insert my old HDD again and delete windows from it, and then keep it as another hard disk for games and such.

Would this work?
I mean is is possible to save the files on the old HDD by installing windows on another hard disk to boot the computer, and then use that old HDD as hard drive?

I still have no clue if it's the whole HDD that has been messed up or if its just windows.

(This is very important for me, thanks)

Yes, it's possible. Ultimately you will have Windows installed to the new hard drive and format the old one and use it for storage. No problem, assuming that the drive itself is not damaged in any way. After Windows is installed on the new hard drive and you're booting from that new drive, use Disk Manager in Windows and delete all the partitions on the old HDD, then create a new partition, then when you do a format, don't check the box that says do a Quick Format, do a "long" format. That will help ensure that there are no problems your old HDD, and at least mark off any bad sectors on it.
