Hi there,
I have an Acer Aspire 5750. It is about two years old and for at least 6 months I have had no sound.
Initially it was caused by an issue with Spotify where I did not have sound only in Spotify as it said there was an issue with my sound card. In order to resolve this issue, the solution online seemed to uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver. I did this and since then I have had no sound whatsoever.
The sound icon at the bottom has a red circle with a white "x" and when I hover over it, it says "No Audio Output Device is installed".

Since then, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the audio driver from the Realtek website as well as the Acer website, to no avail.
I have scanned for hardware changes within device manager, which brought up "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus". However, it has a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark. When clicked on it suggests updating the driver but when I try to do this, it says it is up to date.
I have tried disabling and enabling it which also didn't work.
I have stopped and restarted Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder and both are set to automatic.
I have turned off all antivirus software before attempting to reinstall drivers, still nothing.
When I troubleshoot by clicking the speaker icon at the bottom, it attempts to find the update online and then fails every time.
When the problem first happened around 6 months ago, I also restored which did not work.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks so much in advance!

Still nothing, I think my sound card is probably unfixable.

its probably a virus.it can be anything else, its not a hardware problem if the sound work via Spotify. may help copy Spotify software to cd and uninstall that Spotify.reboot then reinstall audio drivers and reboot.after uninstall Spotify,i recommend use ccleaner software uninstall Spotify and audio drivers in safe mode and install audio drivers(not recommend install Spotify yet) if that didnt solve the problem then is a virus for sure .then you may wanna do fresh install Windows.its sounds like like little bit of work well may it is.hope that helps.
