Alright so first let's see what you've got. Which motherboard are you going to use with that video card?

I do know for a fact that they are backwards compatible with 2.0. Now 1.0 i'm not so sure. However maybe your wrong and it's not 1.0. So go ahead give us more details, which video card and which motherboard are you planning on using?

I have this motherboard ASUS P5N32-E SLI and here are the specs http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5N32E_SLI/

That will be 1.0 and yes... It will work just fine :D

I know this because I currently have a similar setup. A 775 motherboard with a PCI-E 3.0 Video Card. And it works perfectly.

I mean it is 1.0 but what I'm trying to say is that it works. Although it will run at 1.0 speed.
