Hello--
I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 on a Dell Optiplex GX620 with 1.49 GB of RAM. I am new to hardware computing, so I have no idea if I have a "sound card" installed or not.

Here's the problem: almost all of the games I own require a sound card, and it claims I do not have one installed. However, I forgot to mention, I have 2 operating systems on my computer. I run Ubuntu 14.04 (Latest version) along with XP.

Here's the catch: when I attempt to run the game in Wine on Ubuntu, it loads! However, I am stopped with a message: "This game requires Windows XP to run." But I then noticed.. I didn't get stopped by a sound card message. I must have one installed.. otherwise I would of been stopped earlier.

Here's the big catch: When running Ubuntu, as long as I have headphones/speakers plugged in, I can play music and hear sounds. When running Windows, Windows does not show any kind of sound card, or does not know about any kind of headphones or speakers plugged in.

So I decided to ask for help here! How do I get Windows to run my game, with (apparently) a sound card installed?
Thanks a lot!

-Bill

Probably you do not have the required drivers installed in Windows for it to detect your sound card. Go to the dell website and find the drivers for your particular model..
