Ok guys, last time i'll ask you about my build lol. I have an amd and an intel build. I will be using either of them for both gaming and editing (mostly for gaming right now, im not going to be doing much editing my freshman year). I also dont know what programs i'll use for editing/rendering but i will be doing video editing right away. i also dont have a preference for games.

I dont think these two builds can get any better without spending more money so the last thing to do is to see which build people think is better.

intel - http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ThatGuy2u2/saved/mx7G3C

i dont really care about the case/monitor. also what ram does the 8350 support?

More about : amd build intel build

Intel build is way stronger for gaming because of that 770, there is not much point getting a z series board if you dont have an overclockable cpu. Why not get a haswell refresh cpu? I would drop the 2133mhz ram for 1600mhz and get a refresh cpu, possibly a k version so you can overclock if thats what you are into. Also getting an ssd will give a noticable speed increase

the 8 core AMD CPU will spank that particular i5 in video editing. and don't just go ahead and assume that i am an "AMD fangirl" or whatever the cool kids call each other these days. look in my sig, i'm an intel user myself.

Intel would be better and I have made it even better. Higher quality motherboard with the newer z97 chipset, quad core zeon with hyper-threading that will beat a fx 8350 in gaming and editing, faster ram(lower CAS), uses the 550w XFX(higher quality than a corsair CX), slightly cheap but still very good 770.

Second Intel build and they will be about equal in gaming but the AMD would do better editing.

See - http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/366/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8... (couldn't find 4670, but 4440 is weaker) - i5 is much better for cinebench. So I'd go with the Intel build.

Its the mobo that the 8350 is on that determines ram speeds. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A99FX_PRO_R20/specif... says up to 2133

it was wrong intel cpu - http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ThatGuy2u2/saved/VwNxFT cpu - 4570

I said not available for comparison. The 4440 I used is weaker than the 4670.

no it isn't. the cinebench you are referring to is a single thread benchmark. and if you look at the very top of the page you linked it clearly states, In multi-threaded programs, the FX-8350 is 17% faster. All modern video editing software is multi threaded.

Quote:
AMD FX-8350 advantages

-The AMD FX-8350 has 7% higher performance in multi-threaded programs.
-The processor is not "locked". Therefore, the CPU can be easily overclocked on most motherboards to achieve higher performance.

the 8 core AMD still comes out on top.
