Recently I built my very first computer and was very happy when everything turned on and functioned correctly. All I need to do now is install windows 7 from the disk I have but I'm having some trouble. I configured the boot settings so the cd-rom is the first priority but nothing happens. The computer keeps telling me to pick something to boot from. Everything in the computer works and the bios I have is from the a55m-e33 motherboard. If anyone has an idea to installing this please let me know. Thanks.

Do any error messages come up when you try to load the operating system? Or do you get any POST codes on your motherboard? If so what motherboard do you have?

No errors come up when I boot up my computer, or any codes for that matter. What does happen though is when I boot up the computer with the disk inside, the computer says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." I've tried inserting and reinserting the cd, pushing buttons, and I dont know what to do. The motherboard I have is, A55M-E33.

Check again that the DVD drive [ it is a dvd and not a cd? ] is the first boot device .

Put the disk in the drive . Use the power or rest buttons torestart .

If that does not work then download and try and install Ubuntu linux . If that fails to install it means you have a hardware issue . if it does install you have windows dvd with a problem

Well I tried it but it produced the same outcome. I'm not sure I did it right, but if I did and something's wrong with my hardware, how do I figure out the problem?

Check your SATA connections then and make sure everything is hooked in properly. Sounds like there may be a connection loose somewhere.

Well I checked all the connections and they are connected correctly, but I think I identified the problem. The optical drive is only meant to read cds not DVDs. Thank you everyone helping me out and giving me advice and tips
