The best model is an i5

If you have to go i7, go from the least expensive to the most.

You don't need i7 for gaming. It has hyperthreading which games do not use.

i5 4690K is the best CPU to go for when gaming only

i7 4770k will be more then enough if you really want to go with i7

Probably, most expensive one. :)
Processor is not so important for gaming, so going for high-end i5 and better graphic card is better for performances.

If you play many multithreaded games, Xeon 1230 v3 will offer great performance too.

If you play on single 1080p monitor GTX770 or R9 280x

If you play on more than 1 monitor or resolution higher than 1080p GTX780/780ti or R9 290/290x (or GTX770 4GBvram model)

Stick to an I5 CPU, that will give you nearly the same performance as an I7 for gaming, it will also help you to get a better graphics card.

If your graphics card budget is 12000 only, then dont go for i7,,,go for a high end i5 which will cost less than an i7 and that way you can buy a better card

You might as well just get a 4790k if the prices are as close as they are in the US. You gotta love price setting.

Not for an i7, no. May I ask what your total budget is, and what will you be using this for from most important to least important?

To be honest, the people who are telling you to get a 4690k or 4th gen unlocked (k) i5 (if cheaper) and save some cash to put towards a better graphics card are giving you sound advice. The biggest difference between an i5 and i7 of the same generation is often just hyperthreading and a slight discrepancy in the size of the L3 cache, from what I know hyperthreading doesn't have much use in games at the moment. With your budget if you were to get a 4770k/4790k you'd end up with a high end processor and lackluster graphics card, and if you have to sacrifice one for the other it should actually be the opposite. Even so, older gen i5s such as from Sandy and Ivy Bridge are still easily holding their own for gaming, let alone a 4690k.

Since you're only looking for a nvidia gpu you can probably get a GTX 770 and 4690k for somewhere a bit above your budget, I wouldn't buy anything less than a 770 considering their age. If you put back the equivalent of 150-300 USD extra, it'll probably net you a factory overclocked 770 or reference 780 with a 4690k. If budget is an issue, see if you can't find a good deal on a used gpu from a reputable seller on ebay, there might even be sellers based in India to avoid customs duties if you purchase anything from outside of your country.

Hi mr clueless.... please tell me what you say about ebay

What I meant was that if you're running low on funds or want to save some money, pick up a used GPU off eBay from a seller that has near or full 100% feedback, has an established history of selling on eBay and didn't just pop up out nowhere. Also, I'm pretty sure eBay has a site specific to most countries with nationally domestic sellers, so I was also saying it could be possible to find sellers of gpu's based in your country to avoid customs and import costs, let alone international shipping costs.

Also, I retract what I said about the 770, which had a factory overclocked model going for like $260 USD at Newegg recently. I advised adding a little extra to your budget because if you want better performance and more longevity with a graphics card, it's usually more cost effective to buy a card that significantly outperforms a lesser model at 1/4 or so of an increase in price. 3gb of vram is better and has more longevity than 2gb of vram. Know what I mean?

Get a GTX 780 (wait and see if prices drop when the 970/980 is released or buy used) or R9 290.

4770k?
Why when you can get the improved version for basically the same money?
Get a 4790k and an Nvidia GTX 780 or an AMD R9 290.
That's great gaming at 1920 x 1080 and good gaming at 2560 x 1440.

It depends on the game. Some games are VERY CPU intensive. And if you plan on recording, or doing ANYTHING else while gaming, your best option is the i7.

His budget seems to be around $600 for cpu and gpu.

For gaming and staying in your budget, i5 4690k & gtx 770 is simply the best choice. If you want an I7, you will need to stretch your budget by at least $100 if you want as good gaming performance.

Asus GTX 770 4GB card is a nice card, i7 4790k is not that more expensive then the i7 4770k, so save up some more cash and get the devil's canyon. Or like most people said, i5 is best for gaming, then maybe it won't be necessary to save up some more cash if you go with the i5 4690k. Here is a link for a comparison between the 2 i7' CPU's:

Hope this helps.

1. His budget is in Rs or Rupees
2. Why 780ti, when the 980 is approx the same price and performance, but more efficient?
