Hi Guys,

So I recently purchased an R9 280x Vapor-X card and I am blown away by the performance (upgraded from a HD6670 lol). Originally I was looking at the 270x series cards but I managed to get the Vapor-X for cheap and I mean REALLY cheap. How does £60 sound? Oooooh yeeeaaaah :D , deal of the century!

Anyway, I was looking online and it looks like there is a a newer triple fan version of the Vapor-X cards.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the differences between the two?

They're from the same manufacturer, under the same model number. I guess the triple fan is newer and other than the obvious extra fan, what else is different? I'm guessing a slightly higher clock speed???

Cheers for your info in advance!

Sapphire Vapor-X is a bit more overclocked, it has some better hardware on the PCB [Digital Power control, a new Aero6 VRM section delivering 6-phase power with high power Direct-FET technology to the GPU, memory and control circuitry, the latest version of SAPPHIRE Black Diamond chokes], High reliability solid electrolyte capacitors, and a few other less important goodies.

Real world difference= minimal.

Yeah but was curios as to what the actual differences were.

I wont be changing to it at all... unless I can get it for ridiculously cheap again but I wont be holding my breath on that.

The third fan should however help to keep it a lot cooler no? Currently my card idles around 30/30 degrees depending on the ambience temp and that is really good imo.

The material of Vapor X's PCB is slightly better than Tri X, both are very cool, Vapor X being a couple degrees cooler on load.
