Question about Nvidia ShadowPlay storage options

Hello, just wanted to ask for some quick advice in regards to ShadowPlay.

My system has a 120GB SSD, which is my C drive and a 3TB HDD which is where I store pretty much everything. I want to use ShadowPlay to record videos and I can make it so saved videos are stored to my 3TB HDD. Yet, there's another option of "Temporary Files Location", which wants to save to my app data folder on my SSD.

I obviously don't want to save those there due to wear and tear on the SSD. So basically, what I'm asking is, can I change the save location to a folder on the D drive instead with no bad effects? I don't want to move my temp files over to D as that caused me an annoying issue in the past.

It might be a silly question but I just wanted to be extra safe, any replies are appreciated.

Solution
If you're concerned about SSD life, I'm fairly certain you won't get anywhere near the amount of writes you think you will depending on how you use Shadow Play. Since your drive is small though, I understand the concern for space.

Are you using it to record gameplay at your choosing, or are you streaming, or are you leaving on the 10-minute write buffer so you can save when something in particular happens? If you're using the 10 minute write buffer, I can understand your concerns especially because that'll just fill your 120GB drive pretty quickly. However if you're using the other options, it doesn't generate one while you're streaming, and the first option only creates a temp file while you're deliberately recording then dumps it...

Either way. There is a workaround to assign the Temporary Files Location where you want it to be, and it was posted in the GeForce Forums. Hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

I'm using it to manually record at my own choosing and yes, space is another concern of why I'm asking this.

As to your link, it's a bit outdated I think, more than a year old.

It's a bit outdated in that it was used for GF Experience 1.8. If there's no option to manually set the Temp one inside the program, I believe that work around should still be valid. When I went looking for how to do it, that's the article most people link back to.
