Asus P8Z77V-LX not Powering or Interacting with iPhone 5

I recently swapped out my Intel DZ68BC MB for an Asus P8Z77V-LX board due to ongoing issues with my Ivy Bridge CPU. While the exchange went well and the Asus is generally working fine I have an odd issue with my iPhone 5.

First off, the Asus has no hot-when-off USB ports, which the Intel did, but this is a convenience, not a requirement. The system is on enough that I should be able to keep the phone charged. What is happening is that the Asus board will not charge or interact with the iPhone at all - the charge indicator never even turns green.

I checked my iPod Nano, which has the older style power connector, and it works fine - charges and synchs OK. I also watched the iPhone as the system boots up. When the system powers on the charge indicator goes green at the POST beep and stays green until Windows begins loading, then the power indicator goes back to gray.

I've looked at all the settings in iTunes and on the iPhone and can't find anything out of order. I requested that iTunes clear the trust list, which should send a trust request to the phone but it does not.

I have no idea of what is the problem. Any suggestions?

Update: I tried charging the phone on two other system: a Win 7 laptop and an XP desktop, both charge the phone and communicate with it, so I think I can say that the phone is not the issue.

I found this link in Apple's support forum, which gave me the clues I needed - http://l]. The problem was that the Apple mobile device driver was screwed up. You can't load this like a normal driver, but doing a software update in iTunes took care of the problem. All good now.
