Hey Guys,

I just upgraded my old rig to an x99 platform and when i went to boot up the fans would spin up but i would get no beeps, and no video. The LCD display on the board just reads 00 and nothing else. (i was trying to get this done before i went to bed so i didn't test it out outside of the case.... stupid i know)

I am using:

MSI X99S gaming 9 AC
Antec HCP1300
MSI GTX 780ti SLI
Crucial 16gb (4x4gb)
Samsung 840 pro

Thinking back on it my case came with some M-ATX standoffs in it and while i think i got them all, from what i have read one of them may be shorting the board? Does this sound like something that would do?

I plan to do some proper diagnostics when i get off of work but i thought i would post here and see what you guys would suggest or if anyone can tell me what that 00 means on the motherboard.

I read through a couple of guides (including the one here) about some basic trouble shooting tips for mobos.

One other thing. I have my 840 pro plugged into SATA 1 and I have another SATA cable plugged into SATA 2 but not into anything. I just ran the SATA cable to make my life easier when i put the new drive in. Could the board be that picky?

As always, thanks in advance for any input guys.

Thanks for the input. I will add that to my list of things to try out.

Do you think this could be just a no signal issue? because the LCD displays on the board do not move off of 00 at all.

Hello... Check your MB PDF for your codes... All I know is that your CPU does not have a IGT so we do not have a another graphic option for you unless you have another video card laying around...
Also not all Output connectors on a Video card become active... they are multi-monitor outputs connectors, and you need to locate the Primary active Boot output connector.
But if you connected everything properly you should be seeing a BIO's screen boot.

i do have another GTX 780ti that i just bought. (I bought one about a year back and have been running it no problem ever since last night) the older card was set as my primary and i ran the sli ribbon to the other card. The other card is in PCIE slot 4. from what the mobo manual said it looked like that was where it should go.

I did take the SLI ribbon cable off to test last night but i did not physically detach the second card. doing that is also on my list for tonight. I do have my old GTX 480's somewhere in the house but it has been over a year so i dont know if they are alive (I would assume they are since i stored them in a static bag in a box)

I just checked the motherboard manual and it doesnt have a listing for debug code 00. it has D0 but i am about 98% sure the debug code from yesterday was 00

I am in the same boat.
I am using:
ThermalTake core V71 case
MSI X99S gaming 7 ac
corsair h100i
sapphire radeon r9 290 vapor x 4 gig ddr5
Gskill ripjaw 4 ddr4 2400 16gb (4x4)
Samsung 850 pro evo
1300watt evga psu

Had the whole system purchased through newegg except the ssd and video card bought them previously.
Upon building my pc i noticed the motherboard from newegg was an open box item not brand new like was advertised, that was strike one. Strike 2 was when opening the box i noticed a fingerprint on the cpu enclosure with some leftover thermal grease. (thanks newegg)

I should have just stopped there and not continued to build, but after 8 hours of taking my time building everything i was ready to boot up and install my os and the bios.

Well the system powered up looked beautiful in my case but only the fans spun up in the case the mobo lit up but within 5 secs everything powered down, no beep no nothing just the lights lit up inside on the mobo.

The debug led shows a code of 00, but searching the net has left me with more concerns about what to do next.

Sorry for the super late reply.

I called MSI and turned out the board was DOA so I had to RMA it to newegg and what a horror story that was. Thankfully the 3rd board they sent me worked and I will say this thing is screaming fast. Hope you had better luck than I did with newegg.
