Why can't I update my graphics driver on ASUS x55a

the only GPU in the asus x55a is the on chip intel HD graphics, there really arent any updated drivers for them. Depending on what game you bought it most likely wont play it, or if it does you will need to turn the setting to low.

A GPU is the video card, graphics processing unit.
Turning the settings to low won't help if the game won't even start. That's something you'd have to do in the game menus.
Where did you download the drivers? From the Asus site? These seem to be the most up to date drivers for your laptop: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/VGA/Intel/VGA_Intel_HD_Graphics_Win7_64_Z815102653.zip. They are from 2012.
