So I have got a new cooler (212X) and I've set up the below profile in speedfan. Is this correct?

I mean is it good to target temperature of 50C for CPU? Why not run it always 100% to keep it more cool?

Will you get more CPU life from managing its speed or keeping it more cool?

See the below images.

Current status (normal browsing etc): http://i.imgur.com/snIcYIL.jpg
CPU cooler speed control: http://i.imgur.com/AdyyARw.jpg
Side panel fan speed control: http://i.imgur.com/eQ4DQys.jpg

If there is full load, like I ran P95 test then it goes to 100% which is fine. And the results are: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2291583/temps-fine-8350.html

I just want to know is running CPU fan in low speed in normal condition fine or is it damaging something? What should be the targeted CPU temperature in normal load?

Can you guys provide your Temperature VS Fan speed graph of speedfan? That'd be of great help.

I'm sorry but one should never run a FX 8350 at 90*C.! Never!

Max core temp for FX CPUs is 62*C.

I have no issue with the noise, as there's a room cooler running so that overrides the noise by CPU.

I'm not controlling GPU fan, I'm controlling side panel fan speed based on the temperature of GPU. sys means side panel fan here.

That means I've set it up correctly? http://i.imgur.com/AdyyARw.jpg shows that for 55C temp the fan speed will be 80%, for 52C it's 70% and so on. Is this fine?

My main concern is that when I do normal load things like browsing etc, then if I run CPU at full speed I can keep it cooler, but is it fine to put CPU fan to low speed at that time? Is it a good or bad thing to reduce CPU fan speed when there is less load.

PS: I hope you know that in speedfan CPU temp means socket temp, not core temp.

Yes that's quite fine. If you run your CPU fan at full speed while doing everyday work, your CPU won't get micraculously cooler, just maybe a couple of degrees, I suggest you try that out. Give CPU ~10% load and run fan at 50-80% once and at 100% once, and do tell if the difference is phenomenal.

Its a good thing to reduce fan speed while at less load IMO.

PS: Socket temps are always higher than core temps, take safe core temps at 65C max at full load, and socket temps at 5C more, ie, 70C.

OK, I'll stick with my graph then. Which means change CPU fan speed to 100% when the CPU temp (socket temp) reaches to 58C.

Why's the socket temp 18-20C higher than core? Is it due to bad case? I have K281. If I buy a case which have vent for socket, then I can put a small fan there, will that bring down socket temp? Or do I not need to do that and everything is fine?

Thanks, yes my temps are fine, you told me in another thread :) (core temp 48C, socket temp 67C, for 10 mins p95 test). If I ever plan to buy a new case I'll get one with vent on socket side.

I'll try fitting the stock cpu fan there without modding the case, if it fits, I'll report back the temps.
