How to change the .lnk files into the default file?

I use Dell vostro , window7 laptop. I downloaded one video file. When i tried to open the file, i used 'open with' option and i selected vlc media player. i didnt notice the tick button(always use this all type of selected programs) is on . All .lnk files ( opera, chrome, games, avira etc.,) changed into the vlc file( it shows the vlc ICON). How to reset the those file into the default one?

One option is to:
1) right click on the icon for each affected program
2) click on properties
3) click on the shortcut tab
4) manually type the path for the program.
This will take a while if you do not know the location of the executable file.

Another option is to do a System Restore and choose a date before you accidentally changed the file...
