I have two xp boxes, one serves as the server for the security cameras, the other for viewing on another floor. I am not the original person on this so I am at a loss. I need for the client box to see the server. The original box crashed and so we replaced it with another xp box. I downloaded the software used for the security cameras but have had no luck in connecting the two. I get an error message related to "no database". Any ideas?

Btw, there is no network connection to these. Basically they were just connected to each other and off the network. Would it be easier to create some sort of LAN? Thanks!

So these PCs are connected directly together via Cat5?

Have you manually configured an IP address on the new machine? If not, you'll need to find the IP address and subnet mask of the working machine, and configure the new machine with a compatible IP and same netmask. You can probably just add 1 to the last octet of the IP (e.g. worker is 192.168.1.1, new machine 192.168.1.2).
