Last night I was on the internet and all of a sudden my speakers made this static noise and I couldn't do anything. The screen was frozen, the mouse wouldn't move and tabbing nor task manager would come up. I shut it off via a kill switch button near the power button (labeled with a triangle inside a circle, it restarts the computer) and it shut down instead of restarting. I shut off the power supply and tried to do a static reset but it would start to start and then stop. I just now performed a CMOS reset by reseating the battery. Do I need a new battery? What else could cause this? And what of the freezing?
