One HDD says it's had more files/folders written than the other but they have the exact same content?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on something I've noticed. I have two external HDD's that have the same data on it, but when I right click on "properties" of both hdd's, one says it has more files/folders than the other. So I manually open every folder on both hdd's and check to see if one has missing files. I go through this long process to confirm they both have the same files but why does the "properties" say that one has more files/folders than the other?

Also, when i transfer files between HDD's, i just drag/drop or copy/paste. I don't use any sync programs. Is this an okay way to transfer large files?

It's a perfectly acceptable way of transferring files. The difference in number of files is one of the drives might have a hidden System Volume Information folder on it or something.

What about within specific folders? Like I'll check the properties of "My Music" on both the HDD's, and one will say it has maybe 10 extra files than the other one?

Have you marked the folder to show hidden files? Could be thumbs.db files if you're using Windows. Things like that. I'd show hidden files and folders and see if any of these files show up.
