1.6V memory with FX-8350?

well... that's a different question. See the AMD northbridge isn't all that good. For piledriver there is little benefit past 1866 ram... now the best memory performance on a piledriver is typically found somewhere around 4 sticks of 4gb ddr3 1866 cas9 or lower ram. of course you'll run into another little quirk of an AMD with 4 sticks of ram... the system will require a little more voltage on the ram and northbridge to stabilize...

I've seen some people claim you can get some performance gains from ddr3 2133 ram and piledriver. But i've never seen a bench that actually proves that.

Good info to know. I was wanting to pick up a pair of 4GB 1886MHZ sticks, but the 2133MHZ memory has better prices right now. The best price I've found so far was 1.6v RAM. So my thought was to go with the 2133 and let it run at 1886 if the 1.6v requirement for the RAM was OK with the FX-8350.

I would play with it... there is free memory benching software out there. If it was me, i'd get the 2133 ram and see what happens when i play with the timings (CAS) and what happens when i play with the speed of the ram. just play with settings until you find the fastest configuration. you can always downclock... that should let you tighten up the CAS on the ram pretty significantly.

Play with it until you get the best performance.
